Mechanism of Action
LL-37 disrupts microbial membranes through electrostatic interaction with negatively charged phospholipids. It also activates FPRL1 receptors on immune cells, promoting chemotaxis and cytokine release. Additionally, LL-37 inhibits biofilm formation and stimulates angiogenesis and re-epithelialization in wound healing models.
Storage & Handling
Store lyophilized at -20°C. Reconstituted: 2-8°C, use within 14 days. Protect from light.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
What is LL-37 and why is it significant?
LL-37 is the only cathelicidin antimicrobial peptide found in humans. It plays a key role in innate immunity with broad-spectrum activity against bacteria, fungi, and viruses, making it a significant target for antimicrobial and immunology research.
How does LL-37 differ from other antimicrobial peptides?
LL-37 is unique as the sole human cathelicidin. Unlike many antimicrobial peptides that only disrupt membranes, LL-37 also modulates immune responses, promotes wound healing, and inhibits biofilm formation, giving it a multifunctional research profile.
How should LL-37 be stored?
Store lyophilized LL-37 at -20°C for long-term storage or 2-8°C for short-term use. Reconstituted peptide should be refrigerated at 2-8°C and used within 30 days to maintain stability.
Is LL-37 available for direct purchase?
Yes. LL-37 is available for direct research purchase. It is sold for research use only (RUO) and is not intended for human consumption.
